Description

Classic elegance in silver and gold combine on this 2019 double incuse coin marking the 40th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint’s Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin.  When the realistic sugar maple leaf design was first introduced in 1979, Canada’s premier bullion coin was widely embraced by investors around the world, and the design remains today as an iconic symbol of both Canada and the Royal Canadian Mint.

This special issue collector coin has a $20 face value and weighs one ounce in fine silver with a selective overlay of fine gold.   In addition to the unusual incuse rendition of the design maple leaf with a dramatic gold on silver contrast, the coin also includes edge lettering showing the number “40” flanked on both sides by a maple leaf.  Collectability is further enhanced by the low mintage of just 5,000 coins.  HST/GST exempt.

The Design:

The classic maple design was originally designed and engraved by Walter Ott.  The reverse features the words “CANADA” and “FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR” as well as the purity standard of “9999”. The obverse features an incuse version of the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
