Description

Between 2000 and 2003 the Royal Canadian Mint celebrated Canada's 20th-century transport innovations with the Land, Sea, and Rail Transportation Coin Series. Each year featured one coin each for Land (car), Sea (ship), and Rail (train).

The fourth coin in the series honors the Russell "Light Four" Model L Touring Car. This $20 special-edition sterling silver coin is designed with a holographic cameo.

Russell "Light Four"

Built by the Canadian Cycle & Motor Company Ltd., the Russell "Light Four" Model L Touring Car was Canada's first mass-produced automobile with a domestically manufactured engine and chassis. Specially engineered to conquer demanding Canadian road and climate conditions, the reliable Russell earned its spot in history as Canada's first widely successful selling car.
