Description
Pennons flapping in the wind, hooves stepping in time with the music, and riders in the Red Serge moving in formation – this is the time-honoured tradition of the world- famous Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Musical Ride. Each public performance is a colourful sight to behold, as the troop of up to 32 riders, all regular members of Canada’s national police force, complete a series of carefully coordinated cavalry drills and choreographed manoeuvres set to music.
Recognized at home and abroad, the RCMP Musical Ride is a cherished Canadian tradition. This selectively coloured fine silver coin from the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates that tradition through its depiction of the Officer in Charge leading the salute, and pays tribute to the riders and horses who proudly represent not only the RCMP, but all Canadians across the country. HST/GST Exempt.
The Design:
A Mountie in the Red Serge uniform atop a black horse is one of the most iconic images of Canada. On the reverse of this 1 oz. 99.99% pure silver coin, the image is brought to life by a selective application of colour that highlights the Officer in Charge as they lead the Salute. The pennons surrounding the centre image form a special nod to the troop members, with one lance tip representing each of the 32 riders and their horses.
