Description
This 2022 $200 coin is the Royal Canadian Mint’s first ever ultra-high relief Gold Maple Leaf coin.. To achieve this ultra high relief, the coin has a pure gold weight of 33.17 grams, slightly more than a regular one ounce gold maple leaf coin. Mintage is limited to just 600 coins. HST/GST exempt.
The Design:
It has been enhanced with new engraving techniques and technologies, and represents the Royal Canadian Mint’s endless spirit of innovation. An elevated take on a treasured classic, the coin boasts an extraordinary relief height of 1.8 mm, resulting in a fully dimensional rendering of the iconic maple leaf. The relief was sculpted by retired Senior Engraver Susan Taylor, who previously worked under the tutelage of the late Walter Ott, creator of this world-famous leaf design
The reverse includes the engraved words “CANADA” and “FINE GOLD 1 OZ OR PUR”, and the purity standard of “9999”. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
