Step into the wild, or let it come to you – Coin #3 in the Animal Portraits series of selectively gold-plated 99.99% pure silver coins. Popular images of the wolf will show it on the prowl with its piercing gaze focused on the viewer, or else howling at a full moon; in reality, the wolf is a social creature that would much rather keep its distance from humans. This is what makes the third Animal Portraits coin so unique: it’s a close view of a wolf at rest, its eyes passively observing its surroundings and its forepaws casually extended outside the framed centre portion to suggest a relaxed state during this rare, unguarded moment. The Design:

Each coin is selectively plated with yellow gold: all but the animal is plated on the reverse, while the rim and effigy are plated on the obverse. The wolf on your coin’s reverse can’t be contained – it’s stretching out beyond the centre portion.

The three-coin Animal Portraits series zooms in on some of Canada’s most magnificent wildlife species, captured in an unguarded moment and in a natural setting. Each portrait is rendered in a classic style, complete with realistic engraved details.
